Crux Publishing is a boutique digital publisher that produces, distributes and markets a curated selection of high-quality, non-fiction titles. We operate an open-submissions policy to encourage new authors and also digitally republish backlist titles for existing authors. Our key expertise is working with individual authors to create and execute a unique marketing plan that drives sales.
Agents and Authors
The economics of traditional publishing requires a printed book to sell thousands of copies before the costs of retailers, distributors, publishers, marketing, unsold copies, etc are covered. This typically limits the publication of non-fiction titles to established authors or celebrities, while high-quality titles that would not sell quite so well remain unpublished and unread.
Crux Publishing offers agents and authors an alternative. We believe that a digital-first approach to publishing is the future for new and emerging authors, with printed copies offered on-demand or as special editions. This approach meets the desires of readers who are buying ebook devices in droves (and looking for more varied reading material) while eliminating many of the traditional publishing costs that fail to add value in a digital world. It also allows Crux Publishing to provide authors and their agents with a greater share of the rewards, thereby making it viable to consider books that might sell only 5,000 digital copies.

Our commission structure typically results in authors and their agents receiving 50% of the net sales revenue for each book versus an industry standard of 25%.
